Many employers provide internal assessments, commonly known as DSE assessments. This is good practice and helps meet employer Health and Safety requirements when evaluating workspaces for staff in full health, however will not provide the required detail to support someone with physical disability. To provide reasonable adjustment a specialist assessment is required.
Ergonomic and technical assessments can evaluate and provide recommendations for reasonable adjustment. This extends to a wide range of physical disabilities including musculoskeletal dysfunction, visual impairment and hearing loss.
